"New look legal aid eligibility calculator “
The legal aid eligibility calculator has a new look on the Community Legal Advice website. It’s been relaunched to make it easier for people to find out if they’re eligible for legal aid.
Easy to use
The calculator is much quicker to use having been reduced down to just 5 pages from 30.
The first page now filters people out much quicker - asking upfront the questions that will guarantee a person automatically gets free legal aid eg. what benefits they receive.
The calculator is quicker to find too - just two clicks from the homepage.
Simple language
The language used has been simplified and accredited by the Plain Language Commission. This is to make the calculator easy to use.
Any words or phrases which may be hard to understand or need a bit of context have information buttons. These give brief, simple definitions and explanations.
The calculator is also available in Welsh.
New look
The new calculator has a clean, friendly design that ties in with the rest of the CLA look and colours.
And to help people keep track of how far through the calculator they are, there is a also progress bar at the top.
